In early 1999 it seemed as though he was the one, the next great star of USA Gymnastics. Come time for the 1999 US National Championships, things changed. Going into day two Jason was ahead of 3 time champ Blaine Wilson. It all came to an end on high bar. Throwing an awesome routine all Jason had left was the dismount. He landed a little bit low and it ended. Jason tore his acl and damanaged his knee. He was out for the rest of the year. He said he'd be back and better then ever just in time for Sydney. Well he was back, but mentally he wasn't. Jason finished 19th at Nationals and didn't qualify to the Olympic Trials. With still in the recovery process Jason competed at the US Nationals Qualifier in 2002. It turned out to be Jasons only competition of the season, as he is taking the rest off to heal the knee fully. As Jason competed at the 2003 Nationals Qualifer, he won the competition and continued onto qualifying to National Championships. Jason then became the 2003 US National Silver Medalist, beating out long time rival Blaine Wilson. 2004 was a somewhat frustrating season for Jason as he fought with a back injury. Although nothing was going to stop his dream of making it to the 2004 Olympic Games. people since 07/08/01 This is not Jason's official website, we are in no way related to www.jasongatson.com!
